I’ve had so much fun putting this series of posts together! So far, we’ve learned how to:
In my last post, I showed you how to lighten eyes. We had a bunch of fun using curves adjustment layers, layer masks and the Gaussian blur tool to achieve a natural looking result. This time we will be taking a look at how to enhance eye colour.
When was the last time you looked closely at your eyes?
Eyes are beautiful. They’re complex. They’re made up of all sorts of interesting elements, speckles and squiggly lines that I am sure have a more appropriate anatomical name. Eyes have a gorgeous amount of detail and we want to be careful when applying edits and not dive in there all heavy handed.
In this tutorial, we will give the eye colour a subtle boost by working with the highlights and the midtones independently, working with the colours in this way preserves the natural characteristics of the eyes.
In this Photoshop tutorial, you will learn how to:
- Use Colour Balance adjustment layers to control colour
- Independently adjust the colours of your highlights, midtones and shadows.
- Understand specifically where to target colour adjustments in eyes
- Achieve natural looking adjustments using layer masks blurs, and;
- Keep your edits neat and tidy using groups.
How many times have you made one of those delicious 5 minute visual recipes you see on your Facebook feed?
I bet you say, “Oh that looks sooooo good!” and never get around to making it… You probably tell your friends about “this awesome bacon-cheese-cheese-cheese-bacon lasagne recipe”, invite them over and can’t remember the ingredients, method or oven settings and go madly hunting back through your feed to find the video. I’ve been there!
Learning Photoshop doesn’t have to be chaotic.
It’s easier when you have a recipe to follow. Better yet, if you set aside 10 minutes to practise it you’ll learn the craft, you’ll know what works, what doesn’t and soon enough you’ll be making your own recipe.
Learning Photoshop is no different.
Refrain from watching or reading another tutorial. Set aside 10 minutes to go play with the techniques I show you in this tutorial and you’ll be on your way to creating beautiful lasagnes images in no time.
